Message from Executive Director – January 2011

Dear Members and Friends of the Foundation,

James BrowningBack in the mid 1980’s, when AFDF was receiving and distributing considerably more federal funding through Saltonstall-Kennedy funds and NOAA earmarks, the foundation published a quarterly newspaper covering the topics of interest to the Alaskan fishing industry.  This was actually a small multipage printed newspaper and took considerable staff time and funds to produce.  It was called the “Lodestar” and ceased production in 1994.  We are trying to revive the tradition of the Lodestar, but with a reduced footprint and costs.  This is our first quarterly newsletter from AFDF, affectionately called the “Lodestar II”.  Please send us your news or upcoming event announcements that you would like included using Contact Form on our website.

“May your fish holds be filled and the gentle wind be at your stern!”  I think it was Al Burch that said this!

Yours Truly,

James Browning
